Expression field: toString function doesn't work when the original data are double

Description
1. Create a view
2. Add a layer (e.g /geodata/vector/SHP2D/comvalenciana_muni/comvalenciana_muni.shp)
3. Start editing
4. Go to the attribute table and add a new field
5. Click on it and run the expression field tool
6. Double-click on the field call "AREA"
7. Double-click on the function toString (the expression should be "toString([AREA])")
8. Accept.
9. After around 15 sec. the expression field dialog box is closed and no data is written in the new field.
